So on his time travels Ted caught sight of another guitarist (David Grohl) playing a potential shape ready to hit the country and western market, he got out his pen and paper and breached time and copyright laws by retrospectively sketching out another guitar shape.  He also did another shape to join the pair but ditched it as he thought he was suffering from time travel sickness.
